DESIGN TIPS

Kitchen

Want a different way to display your floral arrangements? Decorative serving
bowls are a clever substitution for the traditional glass vase. Also, create unique
candleholders with a matching set of small candy dishes. Place a tea light in each
dish and surround with whole coffee beans, small marbles, sand, etc.

Change the knobs and pulls to kitchen and bathroom cabinets. If your cabinets
do not have knobs, add them. They can completely change the look of your
cabinets.

Living Room

When looking for a color scheme, consider black & white. It’s never dated,
always fresh and goes with contemporary, traditional or transitional furnishings.

A great way to spruce up your old look is to change pillows, rugs and art. New
paint adds color and freshness. Move furniture around to new spaces to create
an entirely different look.

Want multi-functional furniture? Add an ottoman. It can be used as a coffee
table, as extra seating or, of course, as an ottoman.

When hanging a mirror it should be positioned to reflect something decorative.
Or, to make a dark room feel brighter, place the mirror opposite a window to
reflect the light.

To add pizzazz to a room, paint the back board of your bookcase a bold, accent
color.

Dining Room

Hang placemats from a curtain rod with clips to create a quick and easy window
valance.

Bedroom

The most peaceful color for a bedroom is cream. It’s all about the bed. It is not a
place to work. If you have a TV place it in a space that can be hidden when not
in use. Eliminate clutter by having ample storage.

For a more economic bed treatment use a ready made matalisse and have the
duster and shams custom made. It’s a good idea to buy the matalisse one size
larger than your bed because they usually shrink.

Kid’s room

Create a fun writing surface by using chalkboard paint on the wall. Finish by
nailing a frame around the border of the paint.

Bathroom

Give your bathroom that spa like feel by adding scented candles and plush white
towels.

Lighting

Dress up a plain lampshade by gluing beads to the bottom of the shade. Instant
pizzazz!

Rugs

Two small rugs of the same color/design can be placed together to create the
illusion of one large area rug.

Accessories

Group items from a decorative collection together for a more dramatic effect.
